This makeup artist says glass is still the safest skincare packaging

Celebrity makeup artist Tor Torre is a firm believer of buying skin care products in glass containers.

“It's nice kasi it's in a bottle so that you know it won't get mixed with the ingredients of the plastic bottle,” he exclaims during a one on one interview with GMA Network.com.

He explains that it's the same concept as drinking water from plastic bottles.

“'Di ba when you're drinking water they always tell you not to store it in plastic bottles? It's the same with skincare!

"Plastics melt and contains harmful chemicals so when it gets hot and with the temperature on our country, you just know it's bound to affect your holy grail products.”

In an article by Reader's Digest, it says that the chemical Bisphenol A (commonly known as BPA) can leach into product and grow dangerous bacteria in the bottle's cracks.

BPA-free products are also not safe since manufacturers are now substituting other estrogenic chemicals which may pose the same danger to human health. Additionally, single-use plastic bottles are mostly made of polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, which is safe to use, but can leach chemicals into your products if heated or scratched.

To look good without harm, makeup junkies should avoid disposable plastic bottles. Instead, invest in containers made from glass or stainless steel. Not only will doing so benefit your health, but you can help the environment too!
